In the arena of international news, Greece has been relatively quiet in recent months. No protests, no defaults, no ticking time bombs that we know of. Here in our corner of the world, however, a little outpost of the motherland has caught our attention in a very good way: Zorba’s Mediterranean Grille & Bar in Bonita Springs. If you haven’t visited in a few years, it’s time to return for an updated dining room (gone are the blue-checkered tablecloths; in are banquettes and pendant lights)—plus a menu of dependable classics peppered with Americanized twists. The lunchtime souvlaki of chicken or pork skewers with a tower of rice pilaf and warm pita bread is a perfect midday treat, and if someone you’re with is not craving the Isles’ regular delights, a shrimp cavatappi pasta with mushrooms and pancetta is not exactly Greek to me but still a tasty option.
