Hot Dish: Lucky Us—A Whiskey Tasting on St. Patty’s

For whiskey connoisseurs, even better than finding a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow would be to stumble upon a barrel of Ireland’s finest aged spirit. The country has excelled at distilling whiskey for the better part of six centuries, and it’s as much a part of the national drinking identity as Guinness. So rather than (or in addition to!) raising a pint on the 17th to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, knock back some whiskeys from his homeland. Vom Fass, a new store at the Mercato in Naples, is hosting a whiskey tasting on Tuesday from 6:30-9 p.m. Five kinds of Ireland’s finest varieties will be poured and served alongside appetizers and a dose of knowledge as to how grain mash becomes magically delicious when stored in oak casks for upwards of three years.
