Norman Love Chef Named One of Pastry World's Top 10

Maura Metheny has a way with chocolate, to say the least.

We might have to start calling her the “Chocolate Queen.”

Norman Love Confection’s award-winning chef chocolatier Maura Metheny has grabbed national attention again as Dessert Professional magazine named her one of America’s Top 10 pastry chefs for 2015. The magazine is the nation’s leading publication for the pastry, baking, cake, ice cream and chocolate industries.

It’s not the first time Metheny has caught editors’ eyes. She was featured on Dessert Professional’s cover in April 2013 and competed as a team captain in the Pastry Live 2013 National Showpiece Championship, heading one of only eight teams chosen to compete in Atlanta. She and fellow NLC chef/chocolatier Dan Forgey were named National Showpiece Champion for the Best Overall/Most Excellent Showpiece and Best Chocolate Showpiece. She also placed second for Pastry Live 2013 Chocolatier of the Year.

In addition to that, Metheny was a 2014 Gulfshore Business 40 under 40 honoree, the recipient of the 2014 National Product Design Award for Love Origins and a judge for the 2014 Pastry Live competition in Atlanta.

A little hint as to her culinary decadence: At the Dessert Professional banquet honoring the top 10 chefs, Metheny concocted a “Peanut butter, Chocolate and Caramel Crunch Bar,” composed of flourless chocolate cake, peanut butter chocolate crisp, peanut butter cream with poached candied peanuts, and peanut butter and caramel mousses, served with a dark chocolate peanut butter macaroon and vanilla caramel.

Is your mouth watering yet?
