New Looks from the High Point Furniture Market

Some new designs from people who've made stops in Southwest Florida.

BY April 9, 2014

The April furniture market in High Point, N.C., is in full swing and chances are your interior designer is scouting out the next must-have piece for your home. Two of my faves (so far) were created by international interior designers who are no strangers to Southwest Florida: Charlotte Moss and Mariette Himes Gomez who were both speakers at Miromar Design Center not so long ago.

Moss’s inaugural furniture collection for Century Furniture includes the Beaufort chair, which you’ll be tempted to use outside but please don’t. Instead, imagine the Beaufort adding a fun acrobatic profile to the great room or family room or rows of its matching ottoman lining a sunny gallery. And fingers crossed a local store rep insists on ordering a bunch of them. $3,888 for the chair, $2,265 for the ottoman. centuryfurniture.com

Gomez’s Grace Console for Hickory Chair is hand-woven wicker that drapes like fabric. Yes wicker! It’s available in several finishes, including aged linen, with a $3,625 suggested retail price. hickorychair.com
