Healthy Eating: It Doesn’t Have to Be Difficult

Scrap the specialty diets and focus on fruits and veggies.

This doesn’t have to be hard. Eat a diet rich in fruits, vegetables and beans while avoiding refined carbs and sugars.

That’s the result of the PURE study that looked at the diets of more than 135,000 people worldwide and found the rather straightforward solution to living longer and lowering your risk for cardiovascular disease.

It also doesn’t say that you need to ban cookies from your life, but that moderation of all food groups is a key to success. Part of the issue, as a recent Washington Post column notes, is that most people lose track of what moderation means anyway. It’s pretty obvious that we should eat more veggies and fewer carbs. But that balance can get out of whack if we’re not paying close attention to what we eat. The Post offers insight into just how to do that here.
