From Dec. 7-10, enjoy the post-Hurricane Irma grand reopening festivities.

BY December 4, 2017

We told you about the whirlwind effort by Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary staff and volunteers in order to clear and patch a mile’s worth of its famed boardwalk a mere three weeks after Irma’s landfall.

Thanks to more hard work, the sanctuary celebrates the grand reopening of its full 2.25-mile boardwalk this weekend, from Thursday, Dec. 7, through Sunday, Dec. 10. The weekend includes naturalist-led tours at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. (included in the cost of admission), special membership benefits and holiday shopping opportunities.

Orchid lovers, take note: The fabled “super ghost” is blooming.

The sanctuary is open daily from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (last admission is at 4:30 p.m.). Entrance fees are valid for two consecutive days. Costs are:

$14 per adult

$6 for college student with ID

$4 for children 6 to 18

Free for children under 6

$10 for National Audubon Society members with ID card
