Guatemalan-born Fernando Beteta, a world traveler and 23-year food-and-wine vet, is a key partner for Chicago’s luxe wholesale distributor High Road Wine & Spirits. Beteta has been recognized as one of America’s Best New Sommeliers by Wine & Spirits. Before his high-profile career working in luxury hotel restaurants, the somm learned firsthand working in his family’s lauded restaurants in Antigua and Guatemala and traveling to Switzerland for his formal education in hotel management. Beteta also worked in esteemed establishments, including The Dining Room at The Ritz-Carlton, Chicago, and NoMI at the Park Hyatt Chicago.
