Feel Good

What’s the Best Diet?

BY January 7, 2016

Diets are famously hard to stick with. And, in some cases, they may not be all that much better for you. So, the U.S. News & World Report set out to determine once and for all the best diet.

The participants (a bevy of health researchers and doctors) took a look at dozens of popular diets and ranked them from 1 to 38 based on nutritional value, effectiveness and easiness to follow.

The winner: the DASH diet.

DASH was developed to fight high-blood pressure, but the experts say it works well as an all-around diet.

“It certainly looked like an all-star to our panel of experts, who gave it high marks for its nutritional completeness, safety, ability to prevent or control diabetes, and role in supporting heart health,” they wrote.

It’s rather obscure, but it beat out the more popular competitors, such as Jenny Craig (No. 10) and Atkins (No. 35).
